Meet The Parents - ~Gilding The Lilly~ Ver. Featuring Apple & Amelie

Well, it's finally happened. After the Duck connected them to Moon, Amelie knew it was only a matter of time before she would go home and introduce her wife to her parents. She is a little worried about how it's going to go, however - from her perspective, it's been three years since she saw them; from their perspective, it's been a little over a month.

She's pretty sure there aren't many good scenarios where a sixteen year old girl drops out of society for a month and then returns married. However: there's nothing to it but to do it, because there is not a single part of her life Apple isn't a part of. As she throws open the door to her old house, she calls out in a voice she wants to be cheerful but isn't quite up to snuff.

"I'm home, Mama! Can you set an extra place for dinner? I bought company!"

Tadashi and Grace share a look over Apple’s head before returning the hug. And then Amelie comes back in.

“Papa, you didn’t say Lairon evolved - ah! Group hug!”

And with that she joins in on hugging Apple.

[cidery]

Group hug indeed. It made Apple feel warm and welcome, as she hugged all three of them in the big group hug.

After a moment, she added, "I hope my mother is okay with this though. She has... very high expectations of me. And I hadn't even come out to her, let alone inform her I'm married now."

[onaroll]

Oh boy, that's gonna be fun.

"I could bring Xerneas with us?"

Grace reacts to that instantly.

"Amelie, no bringing a god to intimidate your mother-in-law into silence."

Why do you make her say these things, Amelie?

[cidery]

"I'd imagine she'd at least be impressed," said Apple with a little hint of a giggle.

[onaroll]

Amelie’s smile can only be described as triumphantly smug, not that Grace is looking.

“Amelie, wipe that smile off your face. Apple, don’t encourage her, for goodness’ sake. I already told you she doesn’t know how to de-escalate.”

At Amelie’s indignant exclamation Grace actually looks at her.

“Tell me I’m wrong.”

Amelie just looks away, unable to meet Grace’s gaze.

"I'll be honest, mother doesn't know how to deescalate either," said Apple with a little impish grin. "The last time she saw her classmate out of the mirror prison, she literally built a entire area for Dragon Riding Games under my nose."

Grace blinks as she considers that.

“Apple, if Amelie and your mother burn down your kingdom in some kind of insane feud, you can have her room.”

Grandly ignoring Amelie’s protests, Grace sweeps into the kitchen.

“Beaucoup for starting dinner; would you like to help me finish?”

"Yes please, thank you!" Exclaimed Apple as she giggled at Amelie's indignation. "I'll be sure to ward off mother next time we visit."

Selecting a baguette, Grace splits it lengthwise and pours olive oil on the inside liberally.

“Amelie loves olive oil on her sandwiches; I’m not sure where she picked that up. Could you chop the mint and tarragon, dear?”

"Of course," said Apple, selecting a knife and washing the mint and tarragon first before setting her skill with cooking to work. It was often said Apple was one of the best normal cooks in Ever After, a fact that she would have had to cook for 7 dwarves for a while.

Behind them, Amelie and Tadashi are getting several bowls out of the cabinets and proceeding to set the table as Grace preps the bread for the other two sandwiches. The brioche for her own sandwich is sliced thickly and spread with butter, while Tadashi’s pain de campagne is lightly toasted. Amelie calls out to Grace as she sets the table.

“Mama, we had our honeymoon in a parallel Alola and I picked up some red Alolan salt while we were there, would you like to try it?”

As Grace adds the Gogoat cheese to the bread, she considers the question before nodding.

“Yes, that sounds good! And what do you mean by parallel?”

"There are other worlds out there which are similar in nature, and one of these worlds is the Alola Region, but it belongs to a girl who is basically an alternate version of your daughter. Her name is Serena," said Apple, trying to explain.

[onaroll]

Grace blinks a little, pausing in laying down the sliced tomato.

“Huh. Wasn’t that what you wanted to name her, Tadashi?”

He nods in reponse, having stopped setting the table when he heard that. Amelie chips in her own opinion.

“We kind of decided we were sisters; she was the flower girl at our wedding.”

There’s a lot more to unpack about Serena but frankly now is not the time.

That was a lot of stuff yeah.

"She's in love with a boy Amelie said was Trainer Red in this world," said Apple, decorating the sandwiches.

[onaroll]

There’s a long pause at that. Grace looks over at Amelie, opening her mouth to ask a question, but she’s cut off.

“No, Mama. Also, Serena is twelve.”

And then she looks over at Tadashi.

“Also, Papa, Red - Ash - is also twelve. And yes, I got to have a match with him, his Pikachu really is as strong as the rumors say.”

"I think Amelie is very impressed with Serena's taste in men," she giggled. "They're a cute relationship and I'll be interested to keep them together."

Finishing with the food, she said, "Food's on!"

Amelie plucks a Pinap Berry out of her bag and very carefully just misses beaning Fletchling in the head with it.

"Even a terrible little thing like you still needs to eat, I suppose..."

Amelie. Your weird tsundere act with a bird is ruined by the fact you still have your tails on display. And they are wagging.

Apple giggles at the sight as she pulls out a chair for everyone before sitting down herself. Pouring the drinks, she said, "Well, we should dig in too."

Amelie's tsundere act is so cute.

Amelie pauses, puzzled, when she tries to sit down before visibly remembering that she currently has nine fluffy white tails. Sheepishly, she banishes them with a glimmer of light from her gem before sitting down again.

"...for some reason, it doesn't take any effort at all to maintain that one, so I forgot I had it active..."

"Maybe because you're mischievous like the fox," said Apple with a giggle.

[onaroll]

Grace smiles.

“Sounds accurate. Well, let’s dig in!”

[cidery]

Taking a bite of her stew, Apple let out a squeak of delight. "This is so good!"

[onaroll]

Grace and Amelie have an entire conversation with their eyes. ‘Did she just...?’

‘She did.’

‘Is she always...?’

‘Yes.’

‘Adorable!’

‘I know.’

[cidery]

Humming a little, she tried the bread and let out a sigh of delight. "Oh this is top notch, I simply must try more food from Kalos."

[onaroll]

As Amelie nibbles on her own sandwich, she considers that.

“If you want, we could all go to Restaurant Le Wow in Lumiose for lunch tomorrow?”

Grace and Tadashi stop eating and stare at Amelie when this is suggested.

“...Amelie, doesn’t that place cost around a hundred thousand Poke? For one person?”

Amelie stares back blankly, not understanding quite what they’re getting at. Her parents look at each other for a moment before Grace speaks again.

“...sweetheart? How much do you actually make as a Trainer?”

Amelie thinks about it for a moment before answering.

“The average is about 400,000, I guess? 800,000 if I don’t do anything else that day.”

‘That day’. It’s Tadashi that speaks next, his voice slightly stunned.

“Lucky flower...are you saying your annual salary, just from Pokemon battles, is at minimum nearly one hundred and fifty million Poke?”

Amelie nods.

“That sounds about right, oui.”
